Based in Omaha
We are an Omaha, Nebraska company. The work happens here, on infrastructure we design, install, and run ourselves. Workhorse has no owners or investors from major cloud providers, AI providers, or governments.
The team
The founding team comes with over two decades of experience in data engineering, machine learning, software development, and software automation.

Origin Story
Workhorse began at Visual Data Products, our sister company. VDP builds enterprise software with unlimited users and usage, so commercial, nonprofit, and government organizations can accomplish their goals without exploitative licensing costs.
VDP developed an AI reporting agent for data exploration and required the same unlimited-use terms as its other products. Inference was available only as rented capacity at variable cost, or as usage-based billing. Neither structure could support unlimited use at a fixed cost.
VDP built its own inference infrastructure and began operating it in 2024, which allowed the reporting agent to run at unlimited use and a fixed cost. In 2026, Workhorse was made into its own entity and expanded its offerings to include unlimited chat, coding, and backend APIs.

Native and Regenerative Land Program
In order to promote human health and reduce consumption and centralization, Workhorse has a program allowing installations to be placed into distributed data centers located on qualifying native landscapes and regenerative agriculture farms.
Land owners in the program have the opportunity for a Workhorse installation to be placed on their land, taking up less than 0.01 acres. Each installation comes with fully covered electricity costs for the surrounding area, and a heating and cooling system for a greenhouse, allowing colder climate landowners to grow year-round.
This program helps us encourage the restoration of native landscapes, increased soil health, and long-term agricultural practices.

We encourage you to think local, and donate to an organization near you.
Workhorse donations also include training, to assist the nonprofit in learning how to utilize AI to accomplish their goals.
